School of Health Technology, Kano

The School of Health Technology Kano has its roots in the Health Services Training School, established in 1969, shortly after Kano State was created. Initially, the school trained Rural Health Assistants, who worked in dispensaries, clinics, and mobile clinics under the Basic Health Services Scheme. In 1988, the military administration of Air Commando Muhammad Ndatsu Umaru upgraded the institution, introducing a new program for Community Health Aides (CHA), which replaced the Rural Health Assistants training. The school relocated from the Infectious Diseases Hospital to its permanent site on Sani Marshall Road (formerly Club Road), Kano. The institution's primarily is to train middle healthcare workers professionals to provide basic healthcare services in rural communities. The school was officially commissioned on December 15, 1989, by the then Federal Minister of Health, Professor Olukoye Ransome-Kuti, a pioneer of Primary Health Care in Nigeria. Since its inception, the School of Health Technology Kano has continued to grow, providing essential training for healthcare professionals in Kano State and Nigeria at large.

School of Hygiene, Kano

School of Hygiene, Kano as one of the oldest Health Institution in the Country was established in 1932 by the Colonial Masters under the governing body known as the Royal Society of Health (RSH) London. The School was first opened by Dr. N.S. Turnbull (An English man), who was at that time the Medical Officer of Health, Kano. The training commenced at Government Health Office with candidates as (Native Authority) Sanitary Inspectors who attend 9 months course in vernacular (Hausa). The then Medical Officer of Health was the Principal and one Tutor.

School of Health Technology, Bebeji

School of Health Technology Bebeji is situated in Bebeji town of Bebeji Local Government of Kano State. It is established in the year 2012, it was first initiated during his Excellency Malam Ibrahim Shekarau and completed by his Excellency Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso second regime and was commissioned by Professor Onyebuchi Chuku FWACS on 27th April 2015. The school started with only one department and currently now running six (6) departments namely Community Health Department, Medical Laboratory Department, Health Information Management Department, Dispensing Optics Department, Biomedical Engineering Technology Department, Dental Health Technician Department and Nutrition and Dietetics Department respectively The school runs Diploma and Certificate courses as Diploma in Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW), Certificate in Community Health Extension Worker (JCHEW), Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technician, Diploma in Health Management Information System, Diploma in Dispensing Optics (DOP) Diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Diploma in Dental Health Technician and Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics.
